While writing my book about the people who run the Tower Of London, I was privileged to learn much about it. This part of the website is to share knowledge with people who are unable to visit, or want to know more (like me) about the unique group of people who run it, more about how it works, and some of what goes on there.
General Lord Dannatt, then Constable Tower of London
Yeoman Sarjeant Crawford Butler.
Yeoman Sarjeant 'Pete' McCowran, who later became Gaoler, then Chief Yeoman Warder.
Yeoman Warder Moira Cameron, legendary first female Yeoman Warder.
St Katharine Docks immediate neighbour westwards is The Tower Of London. While researching for my book about how this world famous, unique tourist attraction is run, I found out that there were many interesting facts about which most people were unaware.
It therefore seems obvious to share much of this new found knowledge on the website. This will be added to regularly, as time permits.
Morning Service: Special Guests, RAF Regiment Association This is a proud time for Yeoman Serjeant Peter McGowran, as he and his brother Rob both served in the Royal Air Force Regiment. Pete was able to welcome not only his old colleagues to the Tower, but also Rob, who was bearing his branch’s standard, and to march their parade up to the Chapel Royal for the service and then back again.
Rob McGowran is second from the left, and is also considered to be quite a character, like his brother.
Canon Roger Hall is chaplain of the Chapel Royal of St Peter-ad-Vincula at the Tower of London. His red attire honours him, due to being one of the chaplains to our current Monarch, King Charles III.
Canon Roger's distinguished previous career was with the British Army.
Here, Cannon Roger is leading a short service to commemorate St Katharine's Day, November 25th.
